Gray Glacier Ice Hiking

Live the unique experience of hiking on the ice of the Gray Glacier. This activity is carried out in high season from the Gray Refuge.
This excursion is a complement to the O and W trekking circuits or for those who stay at least one night at the Gray campsite. Since due to navigation schedules it is not possible to do this excursion during the day.

Description

• Price: clp $170,000 per person (September to April)
• Start Time: Between 08:00 hrs. (1st departure) or 2:30 p.m. (2nd exit), at Camp Grey*.
  *You must sleep the night before or after the activity at Camp Gray.
• Return Time: Between 1:00 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. (1st departure), or  7:30 and 8:00 p.m. (2nd exit) at Camp Grey*.
• Duration: approximately 5 hours.
• Includes: The service of a certified local guide + equipment for walking on the glacier (helmet, crampons, harness) + snack and hot drinks.
• Cancellation or rescheduling policy: 72 hours.

Recommendations:

– Wear synthetic and warm clothing to be able to put on the waterproof suit, sunglasses, sunscreen and change of clothes.
– Bring a bottle of water.

Excursion

First of all, we recommend being in good physical shape to carry out the activity, since it requires considerable energy expenditure, especially in the first part. If you have physical problems or are not used to practicing these types of sports, it is not the right option for you.
The excursion begins with a small boat transfer to the east side of the Glacier. They will have to walk for about 30 minutes before reaching the glacier.
Once on the glacier, the guides will help you equip yourself correctly with the equipment they will give you, in addition to giving you a safety briefing. In the place you can see rivers, lagoons and tunnels that make up a unique landscape.
This activity has an age limit between 14 and 65 years.
